The session takes place in both the classroom and apiary and will last approximately four hours.
· Welcome and refreshments.
· Explore the beekeeping equipment needed and hive types.
· Discuss and witness the life cycle of honey bees.
· Help carry out some hive inspections.
· Discuss the ideal apiary set up.
Each date is limited to a small group of attendees aged 16+. Refreshments are provided. If you’d like to bring a packed lunch you are welcome to stay longer to eat this in our gardens or we can recommend many local establishments that serve wonderful food.
Details regarding address, what to bring and wear, will be sent with the confirmation and again during the week leading up to your class.
We will supply you with a protective bee suit for use whilst at the hive. We cannot guarantee you won’t get stung but will do our very best to ensure you don’t - if you have bee sting allergies this isn’t for you.
Visits to the hives are weather dependent. Should an session have to be postponed a new date will be offered.
All classes are non-refundable but dates can be changed if more than two weeks notice is given. vouchers are valid for two years from purchase.
